Your First Visit
The first time you visit us at TCDO, our team will take time to discuss your health history, past dental experiences, and any anxieties you may have about dental care. We'll need to know what your expectations and needs are for treatment so we can serve you best. Any urgent concerns, like pain or a broken tooth, will be addressed right away!
Customized Care at Every Visit
Please reserve approximately 90 minutes for your first visit with us. First, we'll take a set of x-rays to provide a comprehensive view of your entire mouth, including your jawbones and the roots of your teeth. A periodontal exam will follow to evaluate your gum health and screen for gum recession. If your gums are free from swelling or deep pockets, we'll continue with a gentle preventive cleaning.
Finally, Dr. Chambers will determine whether you need any type of restorative treatment and even show you the findings of our high-resolution intraoral camera!
Your Total-Body Health Comes First
If our team does find evidence of gum disease or inflammation, we'll be required to take a different approach. Before we perform regular preventive care, your gums need to be healthy. If we find evidence of gum inflammation, on the day of your visit we’ll perform a full debridement and schedule a deep cleaning for another day. After all, your gums are the foundation of your entire smile! Keeping them healthy is important to your overall wellness, including the cardiovascular system and respiratory health.
