Town Center Dentistry and Orthodontics Team
DR. BRETT KESSLER
Since 1995, Dr. Brett Kessler has been making lives better one smile at a time. As owner of Town Center Dentistry and Orthodontics (TCDO), Kessler is responsible for aesthetic, functional and reconstructive dentistry practices. He treats each client with appropriate patience, as he would a friend or family member. While his broad expertise helps him care for and heal people in ways that will truly improve the quality of life, he closely works with his patients to create the treatment plan that works best for them.
Prior to founding TCDO in 2003, Kessler held residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital from 1995 to 1997 where he focused on dental management of medically compromised patients, specifically analyzing how teeth affect systemic diseases and vice versa. From 1997 to 2000, Kessler mentored under Dr. Rob Terry at a private practice in Flint, Michigan. It was here that Kessler was introduced to the Pankey Philosophy, the highly respected approach to comprehensive care. During this time, Kessler was also a clinical associate professor at the University of Michigan. In 2000, Kessler relocated to Denver where he worked as an associate partner at a downtown practice.
Perhaps most importantly, Kessler has collected countless unsolicited testimonials that speak to his genuinely different, results-driven approach. He truly helps his patients live healthier, happier lives. With health, function and aesthetics in mind, Kessler first gets to know each patient in order to understand their needs, goals and desires, both short and long term. All of this work on the front end helps him to create a unique dental plan that is appropriate to each individual’s needs. The result is a mouth and smile that lasts, looks good and has minimal problems.
Over the past two decades, Kessler has helped thousands of patients transform their smiles and their lives with cosmetic dentistry. In fact, Kessler has been recognized by 5280 as one of Denver’s top cosmetic dentists every year since 2007
Since 2007, Kessler has also worked closely with the California Center for Advanced Dental Studies (CCADS) as a mentor instructor teaching other dentists techniques on veneers, smile designs, occlusion and practice management. For over 14 years, the CCADS has been considered the world’s leader in providing post-graduate dental education on clinical applications and treatment modalities.
In TCDO, he prides himself on having built a practice that gives back to the community locally, nationally and globally in authentic ways and from the heart. Most notably, his work with helping recovering addicts rebuild their smiles has caught national attention. For nearly a decade, Kessler has volunteered at the Sobriety House, Colorado’s oldest addiction treatment center, providing dental services to help rebuild mouths that have been devastated by their disease. Over the past nine years, Kessler has provided more than $1 million in complimentary dental services to recovering addicts. In 2007, Kessler testified before Congress on behalf of the American Dental Association to help pass legislation that would provide easier access to dental care for recovering methamphetamine addicts.
Kessler gives back to his profession in many ways as well. For more than four years, he has participated in a course continuum with the Pankey Institute. The Institute provides a mastership program that focuses on practicing dentistry at the highest level of care. From 2007 to 2010, Kessler served on the Board of Directors for the Metro Denver Dental Society, and for two years, he was on the advisory board of Dental Technologies, Inc., one of North America’s premier dental labs. From 2004 – 2010 Kessler was a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Colorado’s School of Dentistry, covering topics including occlusion, morphology and comprehensive care.
Since 2006, Kessler has sat on the American Dental Association’s Wellbeing Committee, which examines and helps formulate best practices for a variety of issues that dentists regularly face such as drug/alcohol addiction, ergonomics and depression. In addition, Kessler is the chairperson for the Colorado Dental Association’s Wellbeing Committee, which is the Colorado state version of the ADA Wellbeing Committee.
Kessler has been invited to speak at several prestigious industry conferences including the California Dental Association, The Pacific Dental Conference, Rocky Mountain Dental Convention, Boulder County Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, and the Indiana State Dental Association among others. Topics that he has discussed include the oral effects of methamphetamines as well as married dentists managing a practice, which he presented with his wife, Dr. Gina Kessler. He currently speaks across the nation inspiring personal and professional leadership growth in dentists and their teams.
Kessler’s peers recognize him as a leader. In 2004, he received the Community Service Recognition award by the Metro Denver Dental Society for his work with addicts. He was honored locally in both the February 2006 (along with his wife and business partner, Gina Kessler) and June 2008 edition of 5280, and nationally when he was named a Fellow in the American College of Dentists (ACD), an organization dedicated to leadership, ethics and professionalism in dentistry. Also in 2010, he was awarded the ADA Golden Apple Award – the organizations highest honor recognizing his Leadership and Mentorship towards new dentists and dental students. Dental specialists and referring doctors and physicians regularly comment that Kessler is the best at what he does.
Kessler has been featured in 5280, Self, Women’s World, local television news stations and CNN.
Kessler is an active member of the ADA, ACD and Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity. He was elected Treasurer of the Colorado Dental Association in 2010. He currently serves as Vice President of the organization. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Iowa and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois.
An avid triathlete and marathoner, Kessler competes in various races across the United States. When he’s not racing, he enjoys the Stapleton community with his wife and business partner, Dr. Gina Kessler, and his four children, Abbey, Max, Sydney and Riley.
